Plein Air Painting
Plein air painting is my passion. I paint to celebrate life and give thanks to the world around me. I see something and go straight towards it, as close as I can like its beauty is magically pulling me. There is a moment when the painting becomes my prayer of connection and gratitude. My process is simple. It's really about engaging the senses and grounding. I sit on a blanket mixing colors with a palette knife and apply to the canvas to create rich textural details and painterly spatial effects. I use acrylics for their fast-drying properties. The palette knife is my voice and words of how I am feeling. I don’t rework the images at home. All that is done is painted at the spot. Nature transforms in every moment and to capture that moment however futile is what moves me.
